AeonClad creates and produces plasma chemistry surface modification and coating systems for high performance materials. Often AeonClad collaborates with domain experts in various industries and the collaboration ranges from creating novel materials to building and operating cost competitive production equipment.

First, we work to create the right material and process combinations. ›

AeonClad has developed a family of small lab reactors (typically with volumes of about 1-liter) that are used to develop new material combinations including treatment and deposition processes. While it is often possible to leverage previous work to guide the development of coatings, the first step is to run a series of samples to explore a variety of treatments quickly. Next, we work to improve the process, material properties and uniformity. ›

Then, AeonClad works to build the right process for a given material system. At times, work with a customer can start at this stage. Either way, this stage begins with a basic recipe (for the AeonClad treatment) and desired material properties for that treatment.

Then, we can work to scale up the process and develop the right steps (including machine architecture, production location, etc.) to reach initial material production. ›

The economic driver for creating solutions with AeonClad technologies is the inherent scalability and competitive costs. After preparing the right process for a given material system, there are many options for scaling up to commercial production.
